Other big dogs have attacked mine while mine were on leash. I purchased the 33 inch prod as that seemed like a good compromise between reach and ease of carry. I discovered that it fit perfectly in the carrying bag that comes with folding camp chairs. So I just sling the bag over my shoulder and off we go. The prod can quickly be pulled from the carrying bag. It still looks a little crazy to onlookers but not as obvious as walking my dogs carrying a cattle prod. This item does have two switches and one activation button that would need to be managed in an attack. So I placed a small piece of duct tape in the 'on' position of the prod. I feel this will help me when the next attack happens. This way I won't be fumbling around figuring out how to turn this on. I received this in January and I fully charged it. I haven't had to charge it again. Every so often I turn on the flashlight to make sure it's still charged. I should probably consider charging it anyway as it may be getting low. This product does not shoot sparks when you activate it in the air. It has to actually be touching metal or flesh to spark. If it did spark in the air it may scare off attackers, but then it would also scare my dogs.
