I wouldn't really consider them gray, but more a light brown with a whitewashed look (maybe a little white/gray in that feature). I would've given it five stars for packaging as they did arrive unbroken and packaged well; however, as others stated, the entire frame is wrapped in plastic. It isn't necessary to remove the screws to remove the plastic, but it takes a bit to cut it off carefully. Not a big deal, just a little extra time.
