A: Thank you for your interest in Danco products and for your inquiry. Danco 2K-3H (15972) is the same stem as Danco 2K-3H (15744) and includes the locknut. Unfortunately, Danco does not offer the locknut for these stems separately.

**Q: Where does the lock nut get installed?**
A: you drop the cartridge into the faucet and the nut goes on top of cartridge to hold it in place

**Q: how long is this stem? (dimensions provided seem to be for packaging...unless the actual stem is 5.7 x 4.7 inches?)**

**Q: The difference beween hot and cold stem**
A: Thank you for contacting Danco. The "hot stem" is used on the side of the faucet where you have "hot water" and the "cold stem" is used for "cold water." The design of each stem differs based on if it is "hot" or "cold." The stem that is for "hot water applications" has threads that turn on the "left" side of the faucet where this is normally where the "hot water" is located and vice versa for the "cold water stem." Threads determine if it rotates clock-wise or counter-clockwise!
