FOOD GRADE, USP, non-GMO, does not contribute to BSE, not animal tested since 1990. Kosher - Certification is unnecessary because, according to the Orthodox Union, Chlorine is acceptable for use in Kosher-related activities without Kosher Certification. - The chlorine and the equipment in its manufacture does not come into contact with any animal products or byproducts, nor does it contain chemical additives that are organic in nature. Halal Acceptable - While the chlorine is not Halal certified is also does not contain alcohol and alcohol is not used in the process. The chlorine also does not contain natural L-cysteine extracted from hair or feathers, animal fats and/or extracts, blood of any origin, blood plasma, or meat byproducts. SDS and/or COA available upon request. All products are shipped in easy-to-store and easy-to-use resealable containers. Each container is BPA Free HDPE with a resealable child resistant cap. **Q: how do you dispose of the solution after use?**
A: A couple of ways.  I dilute it and then poor it on my drive way. Cleans the driveway. Dilute it and poor it down my sink. It's lye used to unclog drains.   If you add just as much vinegar as you do sodium hydroxide, it neutralizes the solution.

When I told my experienced baker friend that I wanted to make real, authentic German pretzels, he told me I must have food-grade lye and diastatic malt powder. Be sure to read the instructions completely since lye is corrosive—wear gloves. German bakers dip the unbaked, shaped pretzel dough in a diluted lye bath. This gave my California-made pretzels taste like the real thing! I used the King Arthur recipe.
