At least the two I bought do, I bought two bikes at different times and they both have coaster brakes as well as a handbrake for the front wheel. Both bikes are the smallest size, I think 12", so maybe the larger versions don't. Both of the twins love them and use only the coaster brakes so far. **Q: Has anyone found this bike to be too heavy for their child?** A: Yes bike is way too heavy for my 5 year old. Purchased it in 2020 for his 4th birthday. He’s about to turn 6 and it’s still too heavy for him. Her height fell between the 12" and 14" bike. RoyalBaby recommended sizing down and I'm glad we did. It was easy to put together and is very well made. Once it was put together, she hopped on, and off she went. It is easy for her to pedal, even up hills, easy to steer and most importantly, the brakes work really well. As soon as she pedals backward, the bike comes to a complete stop. There is also a hand brake, that works well too. I will teach her how to use that, in time. I researched a lot of bikes and am so happy I settled on this one. She chose the bright green color, which is just as pictured. I can not think of one con and feel confident this bike will hold up well. It is adorable with the bell and water bottle.
