It does take up a lot of room and is heavy. I am constantly debating whether to ditch it or not. However, it gets constant use. I have fresh made coffee and oatmeal in my room instead of going out and paying for breakfast. I can also have a cup of tea, etc in the evening. It has saved me so much money. The silicone taste did take a while to vanish. Boiling some vinegar in it helped. It has held up very well. The case helps protect in when I travel. The biggest thing is to remember to set the button on the bottom for the right voltage of the country you are in. The cord/plug are awkward to pull out from the unit, so when I am pouring the boiling water, I usually unplug from the wall. The cord is very short, so I usually have to unplug it for safety reasons to pour the water. The water gets hot fairly quickly.
