This is also the most expensive blender too so maybe that has something to do with its quality.I read some negative reviews about the soup/warm contents and the top being a problem - keep your hand on the top (which is a sensible thing to do with any blender) and you'll be fine. It has a fairly secure lid but it isn't screwed of secured on in any other way that pushed in, so when the heat expands the air inside, the pressure will build up and try and push the lid off therefore keeping the lid pushed in helps prevent this.It blends ice well and makes great frappes and soomthies.
