Omen laptop it will fit tge 15.6 just fine. It has a velcro strap to help secure the laptop into the padded laptop pocket. **Q: how padded is the laptop area, can you toss it lightly and the laptop remain safe?** A: It's not that padded. I would definitely NEVER toss it, even gently. The laptop area is at the very bottom of the duffle bag, the worst place in my opinion. But it does convert into a backpack which puts the laptop directly against your back which is much safer. All in all it's not a bad duffle. I still can for the life of me figure out how the stupid USB cord is supposed to work, it's location is bizarre and is connected to nothing. I expected a power pack on one end as they advertise you can keep things charged but I have no clue how that would be accomplished by where it's sewn into the bag. To be fair, I bought this duffle to go inside a hardsided roller bag to keep the laptop from banging around inside it. My Omen X 17" is aa BEAST to carry with the power puck...about 12 lbs.!!! I just can carry it on my shoulders when traveling, it's too much, so for me the roller bag was a must, I just needed something to organize it and pad it somewhat in the hardwired 4 wheeler roller bag.
