You can spend a lot of money on lightboxes but when you can spend just under £13 and get the same results why would you! Highly recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's now my favourite light box *by A***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 November 2020* There seem to be several versions of this lightbox being reviewed. Mine is the plain white box with circular ceiling cutout and two movable LED strip lights secured by magnets.THE HEADLINE REVIEWIt's excellent for the small jobs of product photography. The lights are not fixed, but can be oriented easily for optimum lighting effects. The supplied backgrounds are adequate if dull in colour choices. It is a little fiddly to set up but when you've done it once, it's easier next time.It's good. It's repaid the investment already. I'm glad I bought it.THE DETAILED REVIEWI have quite a few light boxes and light tents, but finding one that combined ease of use with effectiveness was trickier than it should have been. What makes or breaks these is the lighting capability. I’m not keen on those with fixed lighting units, so the Zecti offers an advantage straight away.Assembling it took a while. It was tricky to hold it in place because the individual panels wanted to revert to flat-pack state, and the circular pieces that hold the wire frame in place are not identical ; one is for the left side, one for the right, and one for the top, and they’re not interchangeable. Still, once you’ve done it once, it’s a lot easier next time, and in fact, the box is quite light and not too space-consuming, so it’s usually less effort to leave it in a small corner somewhere, still assembled, till it’s needed again. The panels don’t quite meet at the corners, so you need to make sure the corners can be cropped out of whatever you are photographing.I’m not keen on the backgrounds supplied. They’re made of a kind of fabric and the texture shows up in photos. I prefer smooth curved backgrounds to get the infinite horizon effect, but this is easy to do with craft card sheets anyway, which can be cut to size and held in place with Blu-tack. In practice, I’ve found it just as easy to use the box without any backgrounds, and just crop and adjust in post-processing.I use a recharging power pack to power the two USB-wired lighting strips. The lights are surprisingly effective, and individually adjustable for several levels of brightness, useful for taking care of awkward reflections or highlights. If you are photographing glassware, you may find it a little more troublesome, as the strip lighting is often reflected into the glassware. I get round this by judicious adjustments in trial-and-error, and by using diffusers.Most of the things I photograph in the Zecti are for online selling. I had most trouble in the past in photographing black objects like camera lenses against a white background. The problem was in getting even lighting all around the object, instead of a ‘zone’ of black fading to grey at the sides of the object. The even-ness of lighting in the Zecti box coupled with the adjustment possibilities have effectively solved that problem. I am getting much improved lighting and more effective product photography.The effectiveness of this cannot be understated. Many of the things I have sold, I have seen on the likes of eBay being sold by others, and in nearly all cases, their product pictures are awful. The effect is noticed most in the prices realised. In general, items I have sold have fetched two to three times the final values being returned to those sellers with poor pictures. Sometimes the right picture isn’t worth a thousand words, it’s worth a thousand pounds.The two pictures show the Zecti in use. One is a simple shot of the set-up for a lens I had for sale. The other is the final shot after cropping and routine adjustments for light levels. I use plastic grips to rest the strip light cables on, as their weight can occasionally move the strip lights from their positions.I’m now using the little Zecti box far more than the large mains-powered fixed-lights Amazon Basics light box that cost more than twice the price. What I’ve sold in the last month has more than covered the cost of the Zecti light box in increased revenue.It’s not perfect, but it doesn’t have to be perfect to be fit for purpose. Of the five light boxes I have, this is the one I’d keep.Recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome compact little light studio that is surprisingly capable considering the price point!! *by J***3 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 July 2017* Since I sell so much stuff on eBay, I needed to stop using my bedroom floor as for my photographs. My room is relatively small so I don't really have much space to setup any sort of photography space.I bought one of these from another seller around Christmas time as a gift for my mother who makes and sells jewellery. she has used it plenty so I decided to buy one for myself.I really love the idea of a popup light studio, they provide you with a USB cable which surprisingly puts out a lot of light considering the actual output of USB. I also received 2 foam mats which you can easily swap out and hook into the back wall in order to keep it steady.On the USB cable there's a little switch, which I've shown below, nothing fancy but it's small and easy to press with a nice 'CLICK', to turn the light on and off.
