I’ve only used two transmitters and one receiver so far, but they’ve worked with an Arduino quite well (with a basic IR library). Review: Works just fine with 3.3v ESP8266 - Both the receiver and transmitter worked fine with my 3.3v ESP8266 NodeMCU board. I just connect the VCC, GND, DATA pins directly to ESP's 3.3v, GND, D5 (in my case) pins. Used the IRRemoteESP8266 library.
