Sections of hair are covered with one pass and stay all day, after styling and in the heat. Takes a few years off my look to see brown instead of gray. I also have swirly hair growth at both upper sides of my head and my scalp shows more in those areas, so this powder makes my hair color look more uniform. I don't think you can tell that it's applied to my hair, even at the base near my temples on each side. I can compare it to the Joan Rivers Beauty brand which I have used for several years, but when the brunette shade of JR became almost impossible to find, I decided to give Fill-in a try. I was concerned because it was so much cheaper than the JR brand, I thought it couldn't come close in comparison. I was pleasantly surprised that the application was much smoother. It is a few shades lighter than my medium brown hair and the JR brand but it doesn't stand out. It is easier to apply than the Joan Rivers powder, however, I haven't used it very long, only 2 months, and the brush it comes with is already fraying.
