I figured my aging feet had something to do with it, but suspected that there might be another factor coming into play, i.e., the origin of the boots. That inspired me to search the internet for boots made in, of all places, the USA. There I found Wellco, not only made in the USA, but field tested and adopted by our nation's military.I bought a pair through Amazon, put them on and darned if angels didn't start singing . . . well maybe they didn't really, but trust me, these are the most comfortable boots I've had on my feet in many a year.Lesson learned: Boots made "you know where" and purchased at "you know what-mart" might be cheaper, but you can't beat the good ole U.S.A. for quality and comfort. I am impressed at how comfortable they were right out of the box. I've used them to work in and hike on rocky terrain. I normally don't like ordering boots or clothes on line. But Wellco is not available locally so I gave it a shot. I ordered half a size up and was nervous about the fit. But I appreciate the extra room for thick socks. My only complaint is the upper eyelets.
