You are switching off your core muscles and you could weaken the muscles further with prolonged over-use of the belts. Long term use of the support belts can deactivate your muscles this could make your back and hip pain worse. **Q: What's the smallest waist this will fit? I'm concerned with it being too loose as I'm small myself.** A: I was a size 0, XXS and I am 5,6". I gained 30 pounds during pregnancy and this fit me just fine in the last 4 months. I used it when I walked or did more physical work around the house. I don't know what my waist size was before pregnancy, but I know this did fit and it is adjustable! **Q: Is this band machine washable?** A: I would strongly suggest washing it in a wash bag.
