The faults in this guitar will make it too difficult to play... the experience would not be enjoyable for the new musician. Like another reviewer said, it was pretty okay on the finish. Frankly I'm amazed that this guitar can be produced, varnished, assembled, shipped and sold with a gig bag and an extra set of strings for even three times the price. Nothing about this guitar screams high quality. That's obviously not the point. Consider this a fully assembled guitar kit. Up to you to polish frets, file the nut and the bridge, set the intonation, and replace the strings with something that will stay in tune. Took me about an hour sitting in front of the TV petting on it.It now will hold a tune at least through a few songs. I quickly discovered that it plays better with a capo. I usually keep my guitars tuned a half step down and adjust with a capo anyway, so this works. It's easier to play on the shorter scale. It also has a better sound.To sum it up, this guitar is shipped as nothing more than a toy. It can be modified easily to be a real player and a great beat around guitar. It is lightweight, a gig bag holds it plus some strings and picks. I'm taking mine to Cuba with me.Update: After 2 weeks traveling around Cuba, I really love this little guy. Jam sessions ensued as well as beach side impromptu concerts. Having a guitar is a great icebreaker with locals and other musicians. It fell to the ground ( in the gig bag) from maybe a meter and not a mark to be found.After more than a year and numerous trips. The guitar still holds up. I had it in a canoe and it was completely submerged in water. Neck snapped ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a cheap travel unit...but I suggest you make a few simple modifications *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2019* If you want a cheap travel guitar for camping or such, this could be your buddy. But you will need to take a few minutes to fix it up right. First, the reviews are correct...the fretboard marks are goofy. But this is not a problem. the neck is made of some white plastic or has a white layer underneath the black. So get a tiny screwdriver and scratch out the black paint to make white circles where they should go both on top of the fretboard and on the side if you use those cheat marks like I do. 5th, 7th, 12th. Easy! Now get a black sharpie and darken out the wrong ones. Almost done! The bridge is too tall and the strings are horrible. For the bridge You need to whack that unit down to around 5/16th - 3/8ths of an inch or so OR just go to your local big box hardware store and buy a small chunk of red oak (maple better if you can find it) molding that looks like a triangle or can give you an edge for strings. Its a floating bridge so just cut your molding to 4" long and cut small grooves for the strings with a tiny file or a pen knife...just enough to hold the string spacing that you can copy from the bridge they give you. Now put on some lights or extra lights. Tune. Move your new floating bridge so your 12th fret is half way between the nut and bridge. slide it back, forth, or at an angle so your harmonic on the 12th fret is the same, or close to it, when fretted. Voila! You are done.
