After daily observation, she noticed that these bad postures were due to the lack of strength in her baby's neck, which meant that she dragged her head on her pillow when moving. Following the principles of other orthopaedic products and solutions, Francesca thought that the growth of the ear in a correct position would allow the ear to stay in this natural position permanently. She tried to find a non-invasive solution for correcting protruding ears. Despite the existence of orthopaedic products that corrected some physical conditions, there was no non-invasive solution that corrected excessive protrusion of ears or acted as a preventative method for the bad positions that babies adopt. With no alternative solution, she started to use adhesive tape. On one of the visits to the paediatrician, the doctor saw the plaster on the child's ears. To the surprise of Otostick’s creator, not only did he say it was a very good idea, he also added that the hardest part about getting a permanent correction was perseverance. From that moment she started to believe in the possibility of creating a product for sale in pharmacies to correct excessive ear protrusion without the need for surgery. While searching data, Francisca Gamero found that 5% of the population suffered from excessive ear protrusion and that, in addition, 70% of the people who underwent an operation were minors. It was at this point that she realised that her product could be viable. Otostick started to be manufactured and marketed in 2008 in Spain.
