Review: Incredibly Good Sound! - What a difference this made in our home theater setup! We'd tried center channel speaker models from Sony and AR, but never were we satisfied with vocals until we tried this. After getting it set up and balancing the sound to each speaker properly, for the first time ever we had excellent, clear and full-bodied vocals, as well as a nice little central bass boost we weren't expecting at all. What a difference -- we can actually understand what actors are saying now, and it didn't break the bank to make it happen. Fantastic addition to our home theater enjoyment! We upgraded our main speakers recently with a pair of absolutely exceptional KLH Kendall floorstanding speakers (replacing our more than four decades old Bose 601's), and these and our new Polk center channel speaker gave our home theater system a new and absolutely stunning sound! However, for me, the new KLH speakers proved to be so much better than any other speaker system we'd owned before that now, when listening to music, I usually set the receiver output to the two-channel, stereo-only setting. All the home theater and fancy music settings are lots of fun played through all our speakers (we have Bose 301 series IV's handling the side and rear channels, and there's a rear center channel we haven't yet used), but now, if I'm in the mood for music, I far and away prefer the un-colored, natural and original sound of two-channel stereo. There is nothing wrong with the Polk T30 for music; in fact, it sounds great, and in my opinion, two would sound quite good as the main speakers in a beginner or small room setup -- it's just that our new KLH Kendalls are so clear, clean and musical that anything of even slightly less ability is a distraction. On the other hand, when we put the T30 to the use for which it was designed -- handling the center channel output of our home theater setup -- it's added a whole new level of enjoyment to films and television. For rich, full, clear vocals and all other aspects of center channel sound reproduction in a home theater setup, this very reasonably priced speaker from Polk is hard to beat, particularly if you're lucky enough to get it with a hefty Prime Day discount (as we did). :-) The improvement in the overall sound quality of our system achieved just by adding this basic, almost budget priced center speaker really took us by surprise -- we love it! Review: Polk Audio for the win - Let me start by saying this T30 Polk Audio center channel speaker is by far one of the best center channel speakers I have bought in a long time! I already have other Polk Audio speakers and subwoofers in my arsenal of Dolby Atmos surround I was just lacking their center channel speaker. I did have an Infinity which was very expensive and bought back in early 2000. My Infinity served its purpose and has definitely paid for itself but when I upgraded my amplifier to a Denon 8K Dolby Atmos I was surprisingly astonished at the sound quality that I instantly fell in love and it made this center channel speaker come alive in ways I never heard a center channel speaker. Music played on the center channel speaker and vocals in movies are so crisp and clear and the fact that it is a good quality brand and matches my other speakers is definitely a plus. I took advantage of the payment plan with prime Day and got a very good deal on this and was able to make after the down payment two more payments for November and for December which actually helps the budget. desertcart has in ways stepped up their game allowing people to make payments on certain products so they can put a down payment plus tax and then make payments over time. Man I cannot say enough about the center channel speaker though. It arrived very quickly actually ahead of time and when I hooked it up I was instantly blown away and this is before I did any adjustments on the amplifier for the center channel. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Speaker impedance and frequency response ?**
A: 8 Ohms each, 60 - 24,000 Hz response but without a decibel variation or a response curve that is meaningless.  They do say the -3db useful low end is 65 Hz.  Over all it is a good value for use in a small room like a small bedroom or computer office say about 10' x 10'.  I play mine with "loudness" on and have the bass turned up a bit to give a nice balanced sound on most material.  These would obviously benefit from being paired with a subwoofer, but they are still adequate even without for normal listening.  You'd have to spend at least double the money to get much better speakers. Note that oftentimes through the year, Amazon and Best Buy will have these on sale for about $49 for the pair, which is when I bought mine, so obviously THAT makes them an even better deal.  I've compared a lot of small bookshelf speakers and to my ears, you'd have to get some Boston Acoustics at $250 for the pair to offer anything much better than these, but you may wish to compare them to others by Klipsch and JBL.  But really, when I got them for $49 I was VERY happy with them and how they have grown on me after I broke them in for a few hours.   Do be aware that playing them overly loud can result in some "noise" or "rattle" from pushing the little 5.25" woofer too hard.  You just need to use some common sense and have realistic expectations for such small speakers in terms of volume.

**Q: Should I set this speaker to "Small" or to "Large" in my receiver? My Yamaha RX-V581 automatic calibration sets this to Large.**
A: So this depends on your receiver. I realize this is an old question, but could be helpful for others. Many receivers have the speaker size selection and many newer (last several years) receivers may also allow you to tweak your crossover settings for each set of speakers. Basically, what that means is that if your sub crossover is set at 150 hz, you want your other speakers to pick up the frequency where the sub left off. So you would want your other speakers to "crossover" at 150 hz. This means that those speakers will play frequencies from 150 hz and higher. If you set your sub for 80 hz and your other speakers at 150 hz, you'll miss all of the sounds between 80 and 150. All that to say, if you set your speakers to small, you'll want to look in your receiver manual to see what the low frequency cut-off is so you know what to set your sub crossover at. This way, you won't lose part of your sound.

**Q: Do you need a receiver to use these? or can i just hook up to my tv?**
A: I have seen TVs that have speaker outputs, but it's pretty rare. If your TV has those, they'd be labeled "External Speakers" or something like that. Otherwise you need a receiver or at least an amplifier.

**Q: Is this price for one speaker or the pair**
A: Try to confirm: As of today 12/03/2021, the price list is $99.00 and in the title, it says: "single" and in "What in the box" says: 1 tower speaker. So this price is for 1 single speaker and not a pair of speakers. Is this correct?
