Review: So far, so good! Good packaging, good quality parts! - I looked at a few metal hammock stands on desertcart, with the idea that I wanted to put this in my living room. This is the one I settled on. If you are also planning to put this hammock stand indoors, definitely measure the space first, it's a bit more than 10' long. I have not used it outdoors but imagine it would work just as easily in a backyard. First impressions: I opened the long, thin rectangular box it arrived in. The box was in perfect condition. I took out each part, also in perfect condition, and laid them out(see attached photo) on the floor before looking at the assembly instructions. The metal parts were all perfectly clean! That was a slight surprise, as many brand new metal furniture items have manufacturing residues/oils or dirt on them, so I was very pleasantly surprised at how clean the parts were(yes, even including the few bolts for assembly.) Wonderful! Assembling the stand did not require any tools, all parts were included. The instructions were just a visual diagram, but with such a simple design, that's really all that is needed. I'd say it took me about 20minutes to assemble this all by myself, and so it was a pretty straightforward process. I set it up only a few feet from where I was going to put it, and it seemed easy enough to put in place, considering its a metal hammock stand. The last thing I did was I took a pair of pliers just to tighten down the 4 bolts. Assembly: Done! I set this up with a nylon camping hammock, which hooks over the two S-hooks. I have not needed to use the included chains with this hammock, so I cant say anything about the quality or function of the chains. It takes literally 2 seconds to put the hammock on or to take it off the stand, so that's nice. The stand included 4 thick plastic feet, which seem like they will indeed hold up in the long run, and those feet are sturdy and they blend in well with the rest of the stand. It appears to be easy enough to move the stand around if needed, although I don't know if it can go through a standard doorway while fully assembled, maybe just the base bars could come off if you wanted to put it through a regular sized doorway. Removing the base bars does not require bolts or any unscrewing, they just pop off with the button(although they seem to be nice and sturdy while assembled.) Overall I am very pleased with this stand! I have only had it for one day, and I would totally recommend this to others and would buy it again myself if I needed another for another place. It's sturdy, makes no noise, it does not wobble, it was clean and simple to assemble, and all of the parts arrived neatly and in good shape. I don't have anymore to say about this stand, for $90, which is what I paid, and I am not being compensated for this review, I just really am pleased with this purchase. Using my hammock is very enjoyable. Edit: I’ve had this a couple weeks now, and at some point the stand started squeaking whenever the hammock is rocking! It’s really annoying. I’ll try putting some grease on the hooks as I think that’s where it’s coning from, and will see if that helps. Will update again once I do. Update 2: I took a paper towel and rubbed just a tiny bit of oil on the ‘S’ hooks that are on top of both ends of the stand. This stopped all the squeaking! It doesn’t make a peep, now. Hooray! Now I can quietly enjoy my hammock. It’s now been nearly a month since I got this stand, just as pleased with it as at the start!
Review: Works great so far in initial testing; will update more as it is used - Summary: Meets my expectations so far and seems pretty sturdy. Even though this isn't meant to be portable, I plan on taking this camping, so I will update this review if things change. I had 2 of the Ozark Trail hammock stands that lasted a few camping trips before the metal couldn't handle the stress of 260lbs moving around in it. Those were rated for 300+lbs, so I decided to go with this as (a) it looked very sturdy, (b) has a much higher weight limit, and (c) allows for many different ways to configure hammocks. I was sure to read many reviews on here to see what more recent experiences are like. I did indeed have to wait extra time for the box to arrive, but I attributed that to the fact that the box is heavy. It was a little beat up, but to be expected of UPS/FedEx during the holiday season. In the box, everything small - the washers, bolts, etc - were in a sealed plastic bag. The poles fit together fairly easily but the bottom inserts are not snug. I didn't like this, so I wrapped 2 layers of duct tape around the male ends, avoiding the push lock, and that seemed to make it more stable. I had tried three layers but wasn't able to get the ends to fit reliably. I didn't have that same problem with the top on either side, however. So far, that would be the only major gripe, that those ends need to be re-engineered to be more snug. The only other potential concern is the thin strip of metal that is welded near that area intending to provide a brace; I am curious to see how that holds up as I would think something a little thicker would have been better. I think part of my fear simply stems from the Ozark Trail equipment, and I should not really have to worry about this issue if this stand supports a high weight limit. My setup is a DD XL Hammock, and the DD gear sling underneath the hammock and I tested myself, moving around far more than what the Walmart Ozark Trail hammock stand would ever dream of handling, and that's not mentioning the nearly 100lbs of gear in the DD gear sling under me. It's rock solid, and I can't wait to actually use this camping soon. This things is going to be a pain in the butt to set up on a campsite in comparison to the Ozark trail stand, but seems to be far sturdier and hopefully much more reliable than theirs. I will be camping numerous times before summer in Florida hits, so I'll be sure to update this. So far, I'm pleased with this.
