My husband bought it because it will lay across his chest as a cross-over bag, and it is easily opened without taking it off. There are several pockets in this bag, and items are protected because he will always have it in sight and the zippers closed. You can carry this bag over your shoulder or crossed over your back, but then it is more accessible to theft. This bag is meant to carry a small amount of small items with easy access to them. Last of all, your hands are free!
