Review: Off to a Good Start - I read many of the reviews on this Lasko 42-inch Wind Curve Fan on desertcart; the reviews by verified purchasers. So, I had a good idea of the pros and cons based on other users experiences before purchasing. I purchased this fan to replace an early model Hitachi tower fan that we used in our bedroom at our ranch house, which is in the Rocky Mountain west. We used the fan year around to circulate air. Our Hitachi fan was probably 20 years old and was making retirement sounds the past year or so. Although it still worked ok it was becoming a little noisy. I was not able to find a new Hitachi-brand tower fan, so I guess they no longer make fans for the USA market? We also have a few Vornado-brand fans and have had good experiences with them. But, I decided to try the Lasko tower fan based on the features it has. It is much taller than my old Hitachi fan, which is a key feature I like. It is also much more quiet at any speed than the Hitachi (even when new). The Lasko fan came well packaged. It was easy to install the base; no problems with instructions or screws provided. The slim-line style of the fan and the dark color tones allow it to blend into our bedroom décor. It is pleasing to the eye, and is generally not noticeable. Our bedroom is about 300 square feet, so is not a large space, and as such we use the Lasko fan on the lowest speed at night when we sleep. The "on" light is quite dim and is a white light. The "ion" light is brighter and is a blue light. I generally run the fan with the "ion" feature active and find that neither light is (nor both together are) bright enough to bother me (or my wife). My wife prefers the fan running with the "ion" feature on. She says she sleeps better with it ionizing. We both like the handy dandy remote control that comes with the fan. We leave it on the night stand next to the bed and can use it to turn the fan on/off and control the other features from our bed. Typically, we forget to turn the fan on until we are in bed - and the old Hitachi fan did not have a remote. Our thanks to the Lasko folks for providing this creature comfort with the Model 2554 42-inch Wind Curve tower fan! We have had the new Lasko fan going steady every night, and often during the day also, for about 2 months with absolutely no issues or problems. Hopefully, it will be reliable for the longer term ahead. For the price, the features, and the style, I am very please with this purchase to date, and so is my wife. This is a cost-effective fan. It was significantly less expensive than our Hitachi fan, so even if it lasts half as long, it will be very cost-effective. We are off to a good start! Stay Tuned!
Review: Just What I Was Looking For - Our old bedroom hundred+ dollar tower fan with remote, ions, and oscillation died last winter, so we looked all over town for a replacement. Nothing was available that came close to our failed fan in looks or functionality, so I checked the web as well with little success. Then I received a suggestion from desertcart for this Lasko model, which looked great, had all the same functionality, and was on sale for $48. I read the indifferent reviews with the usual "it's great" and "it's terrible" ratings with some trepidation, but summer was fast approaching, and the price was definitely right, so decided to give it a chance. So far, it's definitely been a winner. The faux wood plastic trim fits in well with our bedroom furniture, the remote is perfectly sized for the nightstand (about 10 feet to the fan), it's quiet, and everything works as advertised. I have to say I've been very pleased with the purchase so far, and heartily recommend it. Over the two days I thought it over, the sale price jumped all over the place, so I was very happy to get it at the $48 price. Concerning the poor review that said the remote had no range, I have to disagree, but the fan's remote sensor is on the front of the fan, so it must be pointed toward you. The item arrived UPS in its unrepacked retail packaging and was expectedly scuffed, but the interior was undamaged and the fan has continued to work fine over the initial three weeks it's been in use. The 7 1/2 hour shutoff timer is a bit tedious, requiring you to press the timer button multiple times until the four lights reflecting the 1/2, 1, 2, and 4 hour time periods add up to your selection, and beeps with each button press, so plan to set it while your partner is awake, or you'll regret it. The ions option lights up, but unlike my Sharper Image silent air purifier and ionizer, produces no distinctive ozone odor, so I can't say how effective it is. To be fair, my last fan's ions function didn't produce any odor either. I couldn't be happier with the fan so far. It's well worth a try.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can the fan be opened up easily to clean inside? My fans tend to collect a lot of dust.**
A: No. This is a great fan, but it collects a ton of dust and is a complete monster to clean. Once it's accumulated enough dust, it will spew sticky little quarter-inch dust bunnies any time you bump into it.My recent cleaning attempt started with removing close to 20 screws, including two hex socket screws, to get the cover off. Once inside, one end of the tubular blade assembly came off easily, but the end where the blades meet the motor seemed designed to prevent maintenance. That screw was stuck firm, in an awkward spot, and made of the softest metal I've ever come across in a fastener. It proved impossible to remove without stripping completely. I stopped short of drilling it out, and am now considering a new fan. The blades are absolutely caked in dust. Without the ability to remove them, cleaning would require getting into 360 individual slats with a q-tip.

**Q: is this better or the honeywell HY-048BP - thanks in advance**
A: After owning 2 of these, Lasko 2521 and a Honeywell TurboForce Fan, HT-900 i can answer this question:the clear answer is the Honeywell 048-BP and it has to do with the design flaws of this unit.the first time i bought this product was back in 2007 and it lasted like a year or two and after it died i still went out and got a replacement within a few weeks or months (so 8 years later they still producing this garbage). the second broke only because i tried to take it apart to clean because it has no way to open and clean. with both units they air was amazing but after 6-12 months it would produce less air (probably due to the unit being so clogged up and begging for a clean). which is why i tried to clean the second one in the first place. putting it back together after cleaning it caused the motor and everything inside to spin and go crazy and it became unuseable as a result.now onto my Honeywell TurboForce Fan, HT-900: bought this fan in between 2010 to replace this second unit of garbage. guess what it's the end of 2015 and it still works and i don't own it anymore because i had to leave it to a friend because i was moving back home and couldn't bring it on the plane with me. 5 years later it was strong as an ox and probably only had one major cleaning which was in 2014 when i decided to throw it directly under the sink and leave it to dry for like 7 days and then it worked flawlessly after still being throw under a sink.the Lasko 2521 was purchased 4 months ago but i sold it when i moved back home. in those 3 months that i owned it, it worked perfectly and throw so much air that i had to sleep with it on low setting and im the kind of guy that has to sleep with the highest setting mind you. cleaning the Lasko 2521meanwhile this piece of crap cost double the Lasko 2521, produces less air and is impossible to clean.in short go with a different Lasko if you are a Lasko fan and avoid this piece of crap or switch to Honeywell. personally i love both brands but i have to give Honeywell a nod when it comes to longevity and quiteness.Lasko:Pros: + More Air, More performance than HoneywellCons: - Don't last long and are hard to cleanHoneywell:Pros: Very Long Life Expectancy, Quieter due to producing less airCons: Produces Less Air compared to Lasko

**Q: does it oscillate?**
A: Yes it does. But it doesn't oscillate very far. I would say it rotates about 45 degrees. A 180 degree rotation or a 90 degree rotation would have been preferable imo. Still a good fan though.

**Q: Where is this fan made? I am looking for one made in the USA**
A: It says "MADE IN CHINA" on the box and underneath the fan. If you ARE looking for made in USA this is not the one to buy no matter what they say. The product is designed by USA but manufactured in CHINA.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dependable , strong, cool blowing fan.
*by C***Z on June 16, 2020*

I purchased this fan on July of 2018. I leave it running 24/7 and rarely have I turned it off. So it's been running pretty consistently since I've had it. It still runs great. Though the oscillating feature works, I haven't used it much. I have noticed that the flow of air that is pushed from the fan, has come less powerful. However, I bought a can of compressed air, took this bad boy outside and blew into the guard, with and without the fan on. This thing had like a pound of dust inside. All built up blocking the air from freely flowing. That's expected since I leave it all 24/7. So I'm not complaining. I ckeaned it out, and two years later this fan blows very a very strong cool breeze. I have 0 complaints, for a fan, it's great. Never have I had one issue. Keep in mind I said I rub it 24/7 all day and night wether I'm home or out, this thing is running. If you want a good size tower fan, ( think it stands 4 feet) that is reliable and strong . This is the fan for you. It blows cool strong air, is not too loud, I mean the little 13 inch fan is louder than this one. Highly recommend.
