The flexibility is not affected by the thickness it's just a better quality steel. I use this knife to spread fire caulking and it does a great job at it. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could, but rating it 3 stars as the closest call. It did do a very good job as a joint knife with a very nice amount of flex and the 3" size is great for detailed work. It's not rated as a stainless knife so I did expect corrosion if I didn't clean it after use, I just didn't realize it meant drop everything you're doing to clean it or it's too late. It was 5 minute mud, maybe the quick reaction of the mud sped up the corrosion of the metal, no idea.Either way, I'm not going to interrupt working on a wall to go clean the knife.
