Only time will tell regarding true reliability but for now I am delighted at the advantages that this pair of shears offers. (The price did drop $4.00 since I purchased them, I paid a whoppin' $33.95, and I did not get any special treatment, discounts or any of that mumbo jumbo),1. The coated blade is extremely sharp so be careful. I wonder how long the blade coating will endure?! Time will tell.2. The handles are extremely comfortable and the thicker one actually rotates as it is spring loaded to spiral in your hand in order to accommodate the ergonomics of cutting & squeezing motion. I imagine that this might be easier on the wrists that have carpal tunnel syndrome.I wonder if that spring will break and if it does that will not be good at all. Sometimes less is more.3. You can adjust the grip opening width to accommodate different sized hands but that may be unnecessary if it is set to your hand size already.4. They open well after cutting but do not snap back into their fully open position as they might.I find this to a potentially difficult dilemma when creating pruning shears. Blades that snap back into place might also mean that the handles are more difficult to squeeze based on the strength of the return spring. Older hands and weaker hand might struggle or hurt after prolonged use of a powerful return spring. Perhaps the folks that researched and developed this pair took that into consideration.5. The closed blade locking lever is effective but difficult to engage and place into the locking notch. I had to force it and squeeze a bit hard to engage it. This might have been tweaked a bit more and made a bit easier but when you try to maximize product perks, you minimize manufacturing costs by cutting some corners to maximize profit. That is the nature of business I am afraid.6. These pruning shears comes with a lifetime warranty which is great. What scares me is that any warranty is only as good as the company that honors it. If a company stays in business, the warranty stands, if a company closes down or goes bankrupt there goes the warranty.Summation: Overall these seem to be a very good product but when you pay premium dollar/pound you should expect the best that that money can buy. I wish the price was a bit lower especially since the price dropped $4.00 since my purchase which was not that long ago. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Seems good so far *by B***E on Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2016* Just received this item in the mail today. Blade is razor sharp and pruner worked well to trim seed buds off my cypress tree. On the construction I will make some comments. The moving parts around the blade and screws are all steel which is good. The handle is an aluminum alloy according to the package. This checked out since I used a magnet to check. Positives of aluminum are the pruner is lighter and the frame and handle won't ever rust. Possible downside is that with heavy use the screws connecting the handle to the jaws could loosen over time since aluminum is a lighter less strong metal. If this happened the user would probably have to replace the screws (which are steel) with longer screws and nuts to secure. The rotating handle is also nice feature but again you are dealing with plastic and aluminum which could suffer over time and heavy use. Lastly the spring which keeps the pruner open is a bit odd to me and I don't have any experience with this type. Sometimes simpler is better and a standard spring might have been better long term. The good news is the spring is also steel. Overall I really like the performance and construction plus the ability to adjust the opening of the jaws. I give it 4 stars for now and will upgrade to 5 later if it holds up for at least 5 years of use. There is a trade off here between weight and possible durability and if the aluminum holds up the pruner is a good investment.Note: If you buy this and there is some slight sticking of the jaws, spray the blade and hinge with a little WD-40.Note 2: The gears are steel. Note that these gears do not do not "gear", "increase power" or do anything like that for the pruner. The gears simply allow micro adjustments to how snug the jaws connect.
