If it gets stained, I’ve put some detergent on the spots then rinsed and left it out in the sun and it’s like new! Goes through the washing machine just fine. Holds its shape enough so the little ones can see, and shades plenty of their neck and face. Not too thick of fabric, definitely soft and breathable. Has a safety strap release under the chin so it’s impossible to be choked with it on- the strap will undo itself. Easy to tighten and loosen; comfortable.
