So due to that I am giving them the rating I believe they deserve for taking care of their customers.** I bought this monitor and camera set 6 months ago based on the good reviews. This is a fairly pricy set and today my monitor totally crashed. It just had a software update about a week ago. Now without WiFi it’s totally useless. I am very upset and of course the return window is already over. I recommend this set to all 5 of my sisters in law 3 of which are looking for a good monitor set. I will be telling them not to bother and I hope this review helps others as well. I am really upset about this happening because before this I really loved this setup.

Our babies were very noisy sleeper so we would turn the volume off and just have the sound detection on so that we wouldn’t hear every single noise and we could get a little bit of sleep I love being able to check in if I’m not home or if I don’t have the monitor right in front of me, the app is easy to use. If I had to give it down fall, probably the only thing I don’t like is that the app does not record for longer than a few seconds and you it refreshes after several captures so you can’t go too far back and you can’t save anything .

**Q: Which type of additional camera should be bought?**
A: I bought 2 sets in order to get two cameras. Use the monitor and go to the menu, once there click Left, Left, Right, Right, then "Talk". This will open a new menu that will allow you to pair a new camera. I was able to add the 2nd camera on the monitor! It only allowed to add up to 2 cameras in my monitor, tried with a third one to no success.

I have 3 of them working in my phone with no issues!

**Q: I work nights and would like to be able to check in on them . Does the app work miles away via phone app also ?**
A: Yes, I am in the US and my dad can check it on his phone app in Canada

**Q: Does it have background audio for the phone app? Example: open the app, switch to another app, can you still hear the baby audio?**
A: No. App needs to be open

**Q: Can you access the camera via phone app only? Want to use it remotely to check on elderly parent. No need for local. Do you have to pair parent unit?**
A: Hi - The parent unit of the VTech VM901 is automatically paired with the baby unit. You ca access the camera using the app as long as it is connected via WiFi. Thank you for your interest!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ MUST HAVE

This is my new #1 baby must have. I purchased the Nanit prior to this product and HATED it. I love the way it mounted to the wall but that was it. It had only an app that you could not keep open in the background to hear noises or anything. All you had to rely on were notifications from the app that the camera “detected noise” or “detected movement”. I’m a heavier sleeper and also keep my ringer off at night so a single notification was not ideal and would not do it. This camera comes with an app AND a monitor. The monitor does take a little while to turn on and I’ve noticed the battery life fluctuates almost but having an app that I can check on baby while I am out but also just carry around the monitor while at home. The monitor lets you change the brightness, volume, plays lullaby’s through the camera, turn of the LCD only, talk, zoom and so much more. This was an absolute game changer and helps me sleep better at night knowing I’ll hear my baby if they move or make a sound.
