I am a bicycle commuter and use my bike almost every day and have a number of steep hills to go up and down. The Swisstop brakes provide the best stopping power and they last a lot longer than other pads I have tried. For example in January I took my bike in for service and they suggested I replace the brake pads as they were over 50% used. These were Swisstop pads that I had been using for over six months. The bike stop installed new Shimano pads and by the beginning of March, less than two months later, the Shimano's had 0% life left. I was trying to brake with the metal backing pad because they had no pad left. Not only did the Shimano's not even last 2 months the stopping power was no where near as good as the Swisstop. So this weekend I installed another set of Swisstop and will now only use these pads.
