It is a somewhat large latch and I soon learned that it is not well suited for smaller gates. It needs to be set back several inches from the edge of the gate in order for the rings to turn properly without interfering with the adjacent post as it opens. The latch arm is also very long.I decided to make-do by cutting the arm shorter to fit. The first thing I noticed was how soft the metal was. It cut "like butter". The flat-head screws strip easily, so I replaced them.After only two weeks, everything started to rust extensively. The finish and metal is subpar- to the point that the lever barely turns due to corrosion. I REPEAT: AFTER TWO WEEKS!I would return it but for the fact that I cut it.
