The industry-changing Kinematic innovation meets time-tested Veff Serrations to create a new iteration on the original Provoke morphing karambit knife. Rope, seatbelts, and netting never had a chance. Around here, we think of Designer Joe Caswell as somewhat of a mad scientist. When we got an eyeful of the sketches that were to become the Provoke—designed in Newbury Park, California—we knew he was destined to become one of the most innovative designers the knife world has ever seen. Modeled after a traditional karambit, the black oxide-finished hawkbill-style blade is forged of a premium D2 steel for high durability and excellent edge retention. As if it weren’t already powerful enough, it’s been given Veff Serrations for nearly unmatched slicing of rope and other fibrous materials. The opening mechanism is pulling the folder into the future whether it’s ready or not. Thumb pressure on the upper crossbar sets the chain reaction in motion, causing the blade to lunge to action while you’ve got a firm grasp on the handle. It’s crafted of aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum for supreme toughness. I've had lots of CRKT blades, and the Provoke with VEFF serrations is now amongst the favorites of all my blades. Over seventy-one years, my blade needs have evolved... Everything about it feels very nice and slick, and you gotta love the ingenious mechanical design. It enables you to quickly grab and deploy the blade in the primary karambit defensive grip, with the index finger in the ring, pinky by the blade and the claw pointing up. This is accomplished without sacrificing the ergonomics, as this knife feels very nice to grip and wield. It's also fun to just practice/play with. I really like the low profile pocket clip too. The D2 tool steel blade is very sharp, should hold its edge very well and be tough to break.The only thing I can pick on is that the knife that I received initially didn't deploy its blade too smoothly or confidently. However, it was just bone dry.
