Exactly what I wanted based on the description which reads: “Sheer, shimmer pink pearl nail polish; an opalescent baby pink. Very subtle shimmer, pearl, & opalescence, & that’s great for me because I would have loved it even if it were completely flat. In fact, I’m now looking to purchase another Vinylux sheer soft pink that is completely flat. I saw some reviews complaining that it’s not opaque & too sheer even after 3-5 coats. This is 100% true, but that’s exactly what the “Product Details” describe it to be under the “Top Highlights” section. If it wasn’t sheer, I would’ve never purchased it. I received it yesterday, & painted my nails last night. This does look like an American (French) manicure on my nails, but I assure you it is not. It’s just how sheer polish looks on longer nails when the tips are naturally white (& a cool nail hack too). I didn’t use alone. I properly filed & buffed, acetone to dehydrate, 1 coat of ORLY Rubberized Base Coat, 2 thin coats of Negligee color, 1 Coat of the CND Shine Top Coat, rhinestones, 1 coat of ORLY Quick Dry Top Coat after curing the rhinestones to secure, & cuticle oil. I waited 9-10mins between each coat with a fan (3 mins only after base to ensure tackiness still present). I included 2 photos from last night right after I finished & added some rhinestone embellishments with rhinestone gel glue & a uv light to cure (all 3 also purchased on desertcart). The last photo is my nails with only clear polish a few wks earlier for color reference. Polish went on easy & very smooth, not too thin/thick, no streaks, nice size brush too. $12 is an ok price if it actually lasts a week w/o chipping. Next time I’ll try without the ORLY base & ORLY top coat to evaluate the CND Vinylux duo on its own, but I didn’t want to risk it not lasting this time, or risk the rhinestones falling off before my event. Stars are for color & application. I will come back & update in a week or 2 once I know how it wears, which may affect # of stars. Overall I still think it’s a good non-gel polish for natural nails. Next time I will not use a base coat as suggested, & only the matching top coat, Review: apply with base and top coats and be sure to let set - The color is off-white with a very subtle pink hue undertone - cool, not warm. It is a matte finish. You need at least two thick coats to truly cover with nothing showing through underneath. As with any nail polish, patience is paramount in letting the product cure between coats. The product really does last when applied properly and with a good base and top coat, but not as long as Shellac, acrylic, or other UV-based products. I haven't had that problem with Vinylux. Keep in mind that you should always give your nails a break. P.S. This is the best home polish I have ever used and really lasts. **Q: which color is a darker shade- #132 Negligee and #142 Romantique?** A: #132 Negligee has a blue shimmer which #142 Romantique does not. If your skin tone is on the warmer side, #132 Negligee may NOT be the way to go. I am cool toned and use one coat of #132 Negligee with a strip of #151 Studio White (semi-sheer) and a clear gloss top coat. and For me, it is the perfect French with a little something extra. **Q: can this color be used in a french manicure?** A: Yes..I pair this color with the vinylux color in cream puff and the manicure is GORGEOUS!!!!! **Q: Is this the color that has a little bit of purple sheen to it?** A: No, I wouldn't say it has a purple sheen to it. But it is very sheer. The CND website says it is semi-sheer, but I would say it is sheer. Takes me three coats to get a nice even color.
