What about the feedings/bobbin covering?** A: I have an older Bernina set into a sewing table. I use four pieces of painter's tape to secure it to the machine and table. When I need to refill the bobbin, I loosen the top pieces of tape and lay the grid back towards the front. I know it's a little inconvenient, but the benefit of having this seam guide have been more than worth it. **Q: Are there thorough directions with it?** A: Yes, they come with thorough and clear directions. **Q: Does this have a key (that you cut out) for lining it up correctly?** A: You can cut this to help with lining up on your machine **Q: Could someone explain to me how this works? I'm at a loss. Thank you.** A: I would glad to answer your questions. This is a piece of plastic that lays on the extension table of your sewing machine and you line the center line with the needle. Then the line on the right is 1 quarter inch from the needle .your fabric runs along that line ,or for sewing from corner to corner line the square from the needle and the other corner down the center line for a diagonal seam. Thin enough to cut to fit machine and bobbin holder. Cons: the adhesive does not want to come off. Thick adhesive squares which makes the guide stick up from the surface. Not a big deal most of the time, but I have gotten many a fabric clip stuck on the edge and jabbed my hand when I was maneuvering a blanket.
