What three values do they actually test for?** A: Thank you for your email, please see enclosed the information from the website re the test strips. If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to get in touch.The ClearWater Test Strips help you test for total alkalinity, chlorine and pH in your pool or spa. **Q: Must have added ph- instead of chlorine on first shock, dip test blank, so i added chlorine but still no ph or ta do i add ph+ or start over?** A: Dip test "blank" sounds quite suspect so suggest firstly test your "Test Strips" by dipping in clear vinegar to check if not compromised, should give you a high acid pH result. If this shows "Test Strips" are working correctly then suggest you need to start again with addition of full recommended quantity of chlorine granules, re-test after 2 days and then adjust accordingly. All this is based on assumption that your chlorine additive is not too old and has not degraded, which can happen after long periods of time and exposure to air. We purchase new chemicals approximately every 6 months and find have to add chlorine granules (top up quantities) usually twice weekly to our 3000ltr water volume. We add anti-fungal solution per instructions weekly and dispose and refresh 1/3 of water volume every 3 months. Hope this helps. **Q: How do i reduce the alklinity in my pool** A: If you live in a hard water area you will need to filter clean all the time, if it’s a hot tub use Clearwater tablets in your floating pot, I usually put about three or four in at a time. Don’t use granular as they clog up the filter. If it’s a pool scatter granular across the surface, it should lower as the water softens. **Q: Chlorine dip showed a deep purple colour. Now, does this indicate too much chlorine or not enough??** A: Hi I have never been convinced pod the accuracy of the colour chart Dark purple would seem to indicate to much but 1/ can you smell it is it strong 2/ if you are using the pool Do your eyes sting?
