There are 20 “V” shaped wires that are inserted into the strip in an alternating pattern of cross-ways and length-wise to give the 40 spikes, so coverage is good. I think it is a very well made product and I recommend it. Note that assembly is required. **Q: What is the thickness/diameter/gauge of each spike?** A: Not real sure of the gauge of the wire. It is not very think. It would work for small birds like pigeons and my chickens don't like it, but sometimes sit on it. It is pretty durable, we used it for about 2 years now to keep the chickens off the steps we use. **Q: How can I attach these to concrete or cement?** A: A product like Liquid Nails or some type of construction adhesive. Drill holes in the the concrete/cement, attach with screws. Read label on any glue type you use, to see if it can be used for what you are doing. Also if you glue them, sand the part where the glue goes on so the glue has something to bond with the metal. If you do not sand the metal the glue will not hold long term. Also, make sure that the cement is clean, free of dust/paint etc. **Q: Will this work for sea gulls as well as pigeons?** A: Dear customers, our bird spines are suitable for pigeons, because their feet are relatively short, and bird spines can prevent them from landing.
