Review: Extremely Quiet and Super Powerful! Highly Recommended! - Great quality and craftsmanship, easy to install, extremely quiet, and super powerful! We purchased this whole house fan to reduce our electricity bill and keep our 2,000 sq ft house cool at night. It took a few hours to install (including the wall switch and timer that desertcart recommended based on other customers who purchased this product). Later that evening, we turned it on for the very first time and it was SO quiet, we assumed it wasn't working or that I didn't wire it correctly. After seeing the dampers creep up and feeling the cool air come through our open windows, we were thrilled! It's been two months since we installed this unit and we are enjoying having a reduced electricity bill and cool/fresh night air. We open two windows (each on opposite sides of the house) and it keeps our house at a comfortable 68 degrees (which makes for a very restful sleep), while pushing all the hot air out of our attic, which makes a huge difference the next day when it's 90 degrees outside. There are two power settings - Low and High. We always use the low setting, which reduces the temperature of our 2,000 sq ft home from 78 degrees to 68 degrees in a matter of 1-2 hours (when it's about 54 degrees outside). I highly recommend this product for anyone considering a whole house fan who lives in a warm climate like we do and enjoys the cool/fresh night air. Once you install one, you'll be asking yourself why you didn't do it sooner.
Review: Quiet, easy install, good airflow. Great purchase - The unit is packaged well, had clear installation instructions and templates, and works well. The unit is quiet unless you are directly umder the intake grate. If you walk 10 feet away the noise barely there. We have it in the hallway and cannot hear it anywhere else in the house. The installation took about 2 hours not including getting the wiring where you want it. The wiring for my situation was very easy and only took about an hour. That will vary job to job. I wired my unit into a smart outlet so I can just tell alexa to turn it on hi or low. *a word of caution⚠️* if you do a smart outlet. Set it up so only one speed can be on at a time to avoid damaging your unit. I did that via alexa routines. We played with it to see what kind of air movement we get (3000 Sq ft house) and was impressed with how quickly it cooled the house. It will save us a bundle on cooling this year.

Great quality and craftsmanship, easy to install, extremely quiet, and super powerful! We purchased this whole house fan to reduce our electricity bill and keep our 2,000 sq ft house cool at night. It took a few hours to install (including the wall switch and timer that Amazon recommended based on other customers who purchased this product). Later that evening, we turned it on for the very first time and it was SO quiet, we assumed it wasn't working or that I didn't wire it correctly. After seeing the dampers creep up and feeling the cool air come through our open windows, we were thrilled! It's been two months since we installed this unit and we are enjoying having a reduced electricity bill and cool/fresh night air. We open two windows (each on opposite sides of the house) and it keeps our house at a comfortable 68 degrees (which makes for a very restful sleep), while pushing all the hot air out of our attic, which makes a huge difference the next day when it's 90 degrees outside. The unit is packaged well, had clear installation instructions and templates, and works well. The unit is quiet unless you are directly umder the intake grate. If you walk 10 feet away the noise barely there. We have it in the hallway and cannot hear it anywhere else in the house. The installation took about 2 hours not including getting the wiring where you want it. The wiring for my situation was very easy and only took about an hour. That will vary job to job. I wired my unit into a smart outlet so I can just tell alexa to turn it on hi or low. *a word of caution⚠️* if you do a smart outlet. Set it up so only one speed can be on at a time to avoid damaging your unit. I did that via alexa routines. House: 700sqft, 2br, 1 ba, 1 floor cap style. Location: Southeastern Connecticut. Installation was simple, however cutting the hole in the ceiling was challenging due to my sheetrock is not what you find in modern houses. My house was built in the mid 1950's and used plaster. This is by not means any fault or issue with the fan housing at all. Just noting this for anyone in an older home, be ready to do some patching. Purchased the house fan back in early March. Installed a couple of weeks later. Only used it 3-4 times so far. Before I purchased I asked "what model would I need for my 700sqft house" and the seller responded with the QuietCool QC ES-3100 model. My attic already has one of attic fans, the QuiteCool solar attic fan, and its been a solid product for years. This thing is a monster, yeah its beefy! Everything is boxed up well, no damage at all. Thanks to Amazon delivery, it arrived unharmed. They delivered it in a box truck, not their normal delivery van. I unboxed it in the living room, and found a central location in the hallway near the attic steps. My house is very small, I did consider installing it in the kitchen to help with cooking smells and heat from using the oven. Placement was key, and I traced out the box location, and as mentioned earlier, I didn't have sheetrock, I had to use a sheetrock tool, and a jigsaw. The jigsaw wood blades wore out before completing one of the 4 side cuts. When I said its not like sheetrock I am not kidding. I have to pre-drill a hole to put a nail in the wall. The best method is to mark your corners, and drill a hole large enough for your jigsaw blade to fit. Then from living space area, mark a line outlining your 4 drilled holes where to cut. Your cuts don't have to look perfect, the faceplace will hide your cuts well. I removed 1 long side bracket, and used an oscillating tool to cut the nails that were in the way of the other long side that goes between the joist and the sheetrock. This will all make sense when you start the process. I then used 2 construction grade screws in the roof joists to mount the fan and connected up the insulated air tube. My attic did not have an outlet, but it did have a light fixture, so I had to install an outlet. Easy for most, but some might need an electrician to do the install. This unit comes with a wall mountable wireless remote, I did mount mine in the hall, hidden around the corner. You need to pair the remote with the control box, I suggest you do that immediately after you get it mounted and connected to power. The remote is wonky, it takes a couple of touches to wake it up, then you need to press your options once you see all options light up. The remote shows a H M L fan speed option (high medium low). This model only functions on High and Low. I took 1 star away from it not coming with a Medium setting (I'll elaborate later). Low fan setting works very well with 3-4 windows opened about 4-5". It will blow the curtain and you'll feel a nice steady breeze near the window. Noise is minimal, its no louder than the dryer in the basement running. It will not overpower or drown out your TV or conversations. At times you might not even notice its running. High fan setting will certainly get the air moving! if you keep the same 3-4 windows open, it will blow off anything on the window sill that isn't heavy. I suggest opening those 3-4 windows 6-9" to allow for the additional air flow. Noise is now at a level where you can hear it, its a low drone sound and will not drown out a conversation, but you'll need to bump up the TV volume a little. Keep in mind, I have a very small house, and its all 1 floor. those with 2 floors and will barely hear it I am assuming. Overall use of this has been a pleasant experience, I am glad I got this, however after some use, I really really wish it has a medium setting. There is an extreme difference between low and high that it really warrants a medium. Does it move air, yes.... yes it does!! Would I get this again, YES. Do I recommend this? YES. Can anyone install this, yes, and no! Yes to those who are handy, and can do basic electrical wiring. No to those who are not handy and unsure how to do wiring. I would equate this to a skill level for anyone who could install a ceiling fan where there is no junction box already. If that is a challenge to you, you might want some help. The fan is heavy, and you might need a helper to hold it while you mount it using the metal straps. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the process or the final install (I might take some the next time I am in the attic) Be sure to get the appropriate model for your square footage, I would verify it with seller.
