But Martins have recessed truss rods, meaning they're located further inside the soundhole. So the length of the wrench is ideal for reaching them. That said, if your Yamaha's truss rod hex is closer to the soundhole, this wrench may be too long to fit in it squarely, as the other side of the soundhole may interfere with it. **Q: Will this (Without a doubt) - fit the Martin J-40?** A: Yes **Q: Will this fit a Martin d18 acoustic guitar** A: I would like to say yes, it should fit. It fits my custom Martin. I think there the same. I have read before that the D18 is a little deeper so you may need to go with a 51/2 or 6 inch long Allen.
