I'm not a fan of cheap aluminum toasters, but it seems that's all you can get these days. It's clear right out of the box that this is not going to last overly long. The one it replaced lasted around 9 years. I'm not sure this one will, despite the rave reviews I saw online. Clearly, since it's new to me, the jury is still out on longevity, but.....here's my impressions so far. Fits my countertop space, always good news. Cord is acceptably long. The buttons are clearly marked and easily used. The dial is less so, but my old one was worse. The toasting process told me that not all the interior heat coils turn on to the interior of the machine. Whether that is due to a poor grade of coil or poor workmanship or just the temperature, I can't say. BUT...the toast seems to not be as "toasted" as my other machine on the same dial numbers. Since they are in minute increments, I would assume that 3 minutes of toasting in both machines would be similar, but they are not. This machine also doesn't seem to toast to the edges of the bread on 2.5-3 minutes like my old one did. I'll probably keep it, but don't expect much.
