Installing the locking mechanism - which seems to be a quality and heavy duty item - is quite easy. Running the wire not so much, but worth the effort. My 2020 has a backup camera located under the tailgate handle, with a wire harness running from the bottom of the tailgate to the truck bed. There is a rubber boot on the bottom of the tailgate and a plastic piece on the truck bed that clips in place to cover a rectangular hole that the harness goes through. I had to remove the tailgate and grind / file a notch in the corner of the hole on the truck bed to allow room for the extra wire and allow the plastic piece to clip in place properly. If you're careful, the lock wire can be run through the boot, inside the plastic wire protector and through the truck bed hole under the plastic hole cover. If done well, it looks factory finished. I chose to run my wire up the driver side and connect under the dash to the driver door circuit so it unlocks with a single click instead of two. Finding a way into the cab was not easy - it is very well sealed. There are holes with rubber plugs under the body, but no corresponding holes into the cab. I removed the plastic floor trim and drilled a hole under that which allowed me to feed the wire through one of the existing holes under the cab, up through my drilled hole, and under the floor trim. Of course the wire was fed through the hole plug under the cab and through a grommet in the hole I drilled to keep things sealed. Once you get the wire behind the kick panel, look for the harness that goes through the side of the cab to the driver's door. There is a brown plug that contains the wires you need to clip into. Disconnect the plug and remove the tape wrapped around the harness for easier access. I believe the wires were blue and gray as stated in another review. It's easy enough to check if you have a 12 volt probe. Both wires will light the probe depending on if you press lock or unlock on the remote. Also, they are smaller diameter wires - I was surprised at how small the lock circuit wires are. I have zero regrets after installing this. It works great, is super convenient, and with the push button start on the truck, I don't even have to carry the key anymore - just the key fob. If you are near the tailgate when you lock or unlock it, you will hear the mechanism activate, but I would not call it loud. If you use the door button to lock your doors as you exit, the horn beep drowns it out. I have a bed cover and need to lock / unlock my tailgate multiple times a day. The only way it could be better is if Nissan added it at the factory. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It works like it should. *by R***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2023* It was fairly easy to install, just time consuming. I like knowing that my things are safe now. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works Great *by F***N on Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2022* Installed mine in a 2019 Nissan Frontier. Watched a few You Tube videos before I attempted and that helped insure no surprises during the install. Bolting the mechanism into place was the easiest of all. Fishing the wire through the tailgate was probably the most difficult process, but no reflection on this product. Suckiest part of the install was crawling underneath and zip tying the wire in place. Scariest part was splicing into the wiring harness (no going back now). Look for light blue and purple wire on passenger side pillar. Green on the pop-lock went to light blue and blue went to purple. Initially, I didn't get contact on the splice, but gave the splice device and extra squeeze with pliers and all worked well after that.I'm so happy my tailgate locks/unlocks with my fob instead of having to fumble with the key. When I first bought the truck, it only came with keys, but I soon learned the vehicle was fob compatible and it was a simple programming routine to upgrade. Then I stumbled across this product and can now lock everything at once. Super happy with my Frontier with just minimal spend to upgrade it.Going off topic a bit, but I've upgraded my Frontier with fog lights, running boards, mud flaps and bed cover. Everything so far was pre-wired, pre-drilled and pre-threaded to accept these upgrades. I've never owned a vehicle that was easily willing to accept aftermarket add-ons.
