I want to be able to boil and strain her foods myself to make sure I will know what foods are going in to her little body so I can give her the healthiest start possible. Also, you never know what foods babies can be allergic to and I don't want to risk having her food that I am feeding her come into contact with a food that she could be allergic to. Making her food seems to be the best route. The baby food strainer is pretty cool, I used it a little just to give it a try but haven't been able to use it to its fullest capabilities yet. I like that the strainer is large enough to press a half of sweet potato all at once. The handles are nice and long to give enough leverage to squeeze even harder foods with ease. The front of the strainer has (teeth) that are different measurements from the strainer so you can rest the strainer on the jar or bowl you are squeezing the food into and it wont slip and it works for different sized containers. The press has 3 different removable plates that have different sizes of holes to strain different consistencies, The best part is, it all comes apart so it is easy to clean. All you have to do is change out the discs to the one you want, put it in and pile on all the food you want mashed (so long as it fits.) changing out the discs is the trickiest part because you have to angle them in there just right or else they don’t want to sit flush. But other than that this tool has been a great asset and much easier to use than a regular potato masher. It can be used on everything from soft cooked potatoes to soft cooked apples for apple sauce. Whatever you use it for, make sure it’s a soft food or soft cooked food item, because harder thing are much more difficult to use in it because you have to apply more pressure and it feels like the plastic handle will snap at some point. And with the baby food strainer being such a huge piece I don’t see it being too portable, so if you are looking for an easy way to eat out with your young one, I’d opt to prep food for them at home and store in Tupperware or a food pouch before leaving. But on the brightest side, this thing is also incredibly easy to clean. Especially if you rinse it right after use and don’t let it sit and harden, otherwise you can just soak it in a sink full of hot water for a while to make scrubbing easier.
