I don't have enough room for the full 36 inches.** A: Anything is possible... Someone already suggested cutting 3" off both ends and then drilling 2 new holes to add the hanging end pieces. This should allow the proper balance overall... It is not a rack meant to hold a bunch of pots or heavy items. I still think that it is one of our best purchases to save space etc..We did not use the hanging chains only screw in hooks, because we are a house of tall folks! **Q: Can this be hung from the bottom of a upper cabinet? The bottom of my upper is 40" from the counter top.** A: Yes you can. You could actually hook the wooden part directly under the cabinet, which would leave you a couple inches fewer than 40" to hang your pots. **Q: How is it installed into the ceiling - with toggle bolts?** A: You can use the screw/hooks into a stud, these come with the rack. If installing to dry wall you will need toggle bolts not supplied. **Q: How many hooks are there? Some reviews say "four," some six?** A: It has 6 hooks just like in the picture. There may be a smaller version but not that I can tell. Ours that I bought on Amazon has 6 hooks. 3 of the hooks can rotate so as to allow for different orientation of the pots and pans for better fit. The hooks also can be adjusted for space.
