Since the globe is glass, not acrylic, shaking could result in an "oops" fall and a broken globe. If you order this, look at the internals before you put it together to see if your preferred candy will be able to go through the internal holes. Also, to update another customer's answer, there are directions included for how to adjust the internal machine dispenser so that it can be used with coins or "free" by twisting.
