We like to play clockwise, each player takes a turn rolling both dice and "shutting" the corresponding number (or numbers that add up to; 9 can be 9 or 5,4 or 4,3,2 etc), continue around the board until someone has shut all of their numbers, then other players count their remaining numbers, lowest score after 5 rounds wins. We do also follow the rule that if the only open numbers are 6 or below, then that player may only roll one die. Really versatile. Play with kids on family night. Play 2 player with Spouse. Play as drinking game. I wouldn't say it's the best for travel due to size (there is a smaller version), but it does come in a cardboard box, so it can be safely mobile until that breaks.
