Review: Bib Buddy Installation Cost Saving Tips - Great product, but wanted to note a few items to save money and avoid frustrating errors. I will definitely buy again if I have another hose bib come loose. If you learned about Bib Buddy from the YouTube channel "Weekend Home Projects" excellent video "How to Attach Hose Bib to Brick - Install Outdoor Faucet with Hose Bib Buddy", please note there is an error in the video. The video calls for a 3/32 drill bit for the small screw pilot holes near the middle of the plate (not the outside masonry screws). However, the Bib Buddy instructions call out a 5/32 drill bit (see the image from the instructions). I followed this video and used 3/32 bit, but there was no way those screws would thread into those too small holes. So I then used a 1/8 drill bit I had and that worked, though it was very tight. Would probably work better with a 5/32 bit. You don't need buy the hex head drivers if you have a ratchet set. All screws have a screwdriver slot, so you can also use a screwdriver in that slot rather than the hex head driver. It was surprisingly easy to screw in the masonry screws after drilling the holes. Just saving money by using what I already have. Overall, Bib Buddy worked great. Finally, be sure to drill the faucet mounting holes BEFORE screwing in the plate with the masonry bits. That tip is included in video. Great product! Glad to have such an easy and elegant solution to a loose hose bib.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I use this between my vinyl siding and my hose bib?**
A: I used it between HardiPlank siding and bib, can't see why vinyl might be different.  HardiPlank might be even more difficult since it does not seem to hold screws well, crumbles easily.  The plate does have some thickness to it, so need at least a little "play" in your line to slide between siding and bib, i.e., it pulls the bib out maybe a quarter inch.  My bib was backed with pvc piping so had that play.  Metal piping may not have that much give.

**Q: Is galvanic corrossion not a long term concern?**
A: The first one of the three I now have has been installed for two years with no sign of corrosion. That was my concern also, but as I said after two years there is no sign of corrosion. I installed to additional ones this spring. They give my faucets GREAT stability! The two I installed this spring I drilled two additional holes each about an inch inside the existing holes and I used #8 stainless steek 1 1/2” screws. On all three I drilled and tapped the holes to fasten the faucet, and used 8x20 stainless screws.

**Q: The screws for the house are to big in circumference. What would be the next size down?**
A: I would take the screws to the hardware store and get the next size down to be sure you are getting what you want. Drill the proper size pilot hole for the new screw size. The screws that came with the package worked on my hose bib.

**Q: Can you give the dimensions of the plate? I would love to see a rectangle plate as an option to move the mounting points off the centerline!**
A: A smaller rectangle option is "style two" in the patent....possibly out later this year.  The dims are on a picture, but you have to click the images to get the rest of them on Amazon. In case you have trouble: 7-1/2" wide x 2-3/4" tall.
