I had the same problem and it was just a flow rate issue. The water was to slow exiting the heater and therefore too hot coming out. The solution was simple, run your hot water through multiple faucets. The added flow through the sink and the shower solved it for me at the cost of a bit of water pressure in the shower. **Q: I only have 1.25 gpm at my campsite. will this work?** A: Tank less water heaters always claim the highest flow with the best possible conditions aka 70F@50psi input water temps/pressures. If your bringing in 45F degree water then only expect about 1.5 maybe 2 gpm flow to maintain the heated desire water temps.So if your using campground water dont expect 4-5gpm flow because of the colder water temps , thats only if your drawing in water that is close to 75F not 25-50F water temps.In the end Yes this will do fine for 1.2gpm flows @35psi and above.Gets to be a issue when water pressure drops below 25-30psi as it doesn't trigger the flow trigger to ignite flame.Check all connections for trapped debris also as it will cause no flame or constant on/off flame due to flow blockages.Best to learn up on tank less BEFORE changing to one so you dont run into issues and disappointment due to not installing properly. **Q: My heater controller doesn't recognize that the hot water is running and does not turn on the fan or flame. What could be the problem?** A: Sounds like you have a defective control panel. Even though they are not lit up is your heater working correct?
