## Description

Review: Exceeded my expectations - see my video for some info that I would have liked - I have uploaded a video running thru a few things that would have helped me make my decision. Sorry for the shaking and needing to keep it short for file size. I fully recommend this mower without any hesitation. I added some cons but do not read too much into them, just to balance the review out. Pros: -cut quality -solid construction. it is a 'real' mower and not a battery operated scaled down toy. -bagging is exceptional, very little grass left on lawn, no clumps, has not clogged even when wet, easy to empty -self propelled is intended to be an assist when you exert pressure on the spring loaded lever. it works well but a little slower than I would prefer. -battery life is good in my opinion. I estimate between 8k-10k square feet for the 2 batteries when cutting a thick lawn with a mix of flat and hilly surfaces. I use the power drive quite a bit and my lawn is thick so my battery life provides ~8-10k sqft which I am pleased with. -pretty quiet and super easy to operate -you do not smell like gas or fumes so it will change the way you cut as you do not stink after cutting. I now cut sections in between my conference calls. nice to get out into the yard for 15-20 minute clips without stinking like a gas and exhaust. Cons (I am being picky with these just to have some things listed to provide info): -no external battery level indicator. when the batteries run out it just stops without warning -drive speed a bit slower than I would like but well worth having -confusing 40v battery branding. they have various names for their 40v batteries but per greenwork's site they state that any 40v battery works is any 40v tool. I know other reviewers have contradicted this point so look for yourself. -when using the power drive the rear wheels will temporarily lock until you manually push an inch or so to release and allow them to pivot/roll independently. not an issue once you understand it and use it a few times. tip: allow hot batteries to cool before charging, charging while hot is destructive to their longevity. I am very happy with the price. I fully recommend.
Review: Disappointing First Experience with a Battery Mower – Not for Everyone - Pros Setup was simple and easy. Just unfold it, plug in the batteries, and you’re good to go. The longest part of the process is charging both batteries. As for operation, it’s user-friendly. Push the button, hold the lever, and start mowing. Cons Where do I begin? This is my first time using a battery-powered mower, so my only comparison is my old Toro gas mower, which I neglected for five years until it finally died. Cutting performance If you like to mow your lawn once a week or every other week, this might not be the mower for you. The longer the grass, the worse it performs. Mine kept getting bogged down and stalling, forcing me to restart it constantly. If the grass is even a little damp, forget about it. It struggles big time in those conditions. Self-propel feature Luckily there’s a lockout option, because this feature is frustrating. It works fine going forward or uphill, but if you need to stop and pull back, there’s a weird delay or resistance that makes it difficult. My old Toro never had this issue. Maybe mine’s defective, but either way, it’s not a smooth experience. Battery life It’s advertised at 45 minutes per charge, but I have no idea how that’s measured. I got maybe half of that, even without using the self-propel mode. My yard is only 0.10 of an acre, and I couldn’t even finish in one session. I’ve attached photos to show how much I got done before the batteries died. Charging time It takes hours to fully charge both batteries. Not ideal at all if you’re trying to mow in one go. Build quality Mine arrived slightly bent. The handlebar is crooked even when fully assembled. And before anyone thinks I put it together wrong, I’m an ASE-certified mechanic. I know how to follow directions. This came bent straight from the factory. Return policy Greenworks has a 30-day return policy on unused products. That’s on me for not checking, but it’s not a great setup if you’re just trying to test out a battery mower for the first time. I’d recommend looking into brands that actually let you try the product and return it if it doesn’t work for you. Final thoughts This just isn’t for me. I’ll probably end up selling it on Facebook Marketplace at a loss and going back to gas. I wanted to like it, but the experience has been disappointing. Sharing here in hopes it helps someone else make a better choice. Good luck.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it work on moderate to steep inclines? Is it good for St. Augustine lawn?**
A: This unit should not be used on a slope greater than 15-degrees.

While this mower can be used for St-Augustine grass, you may find that a higher voltage unit would be more suitable as it can be thick. We suggest checking out our 60V and 80V products.

**Q: Does greenworks mo40l4413 mower use g max batteries?**
A: Yes, this is compatible with the GreenWorks G-Max 40v line.

**Q: I have a spare 2.0ah 40v green works battery. Could this be used to power the mower as a backup when both 4.0ah batteries are depleted?**
A: You can in an emergency. But...be careful. There is a reason that 4 Amp battery is used.

**Q: Which trimmer used the same battery as the mo40l4413 mower? i can't find one.**
A: You can use any trimmer within the GreenWorks G-Max 40v line:

21332
2100202
ST40L00

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ honest review
*by K***A on May 4, 2023*

I purchased this because our faithful 2005 Husqvarna riding mower finally died and I really didn’t want to sea with gas, oil changes and the like. I’ve used it 3 times so far. It shipped just fine, packed fine and set up was easy. Both batteries was DOA (dead on arrival) It’s takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to change the batteries. I went ahead and purchased a second charging dock before the mower arrived. You’re going to need it. I have a .71 acre lawn. I am able to cut the front, the two sides and the back up to my tree/ shed on the two batteries. Takes about 40 minutes at a good pace and without using the self propel. I’m a 42 year old female in good shape, I don’t need the self propel option but heard it siphons the batteries quicker. Plus if your grass is thicker, which mine is on the one side due to the shade, it bogs it down a bit draining the battery further. Once those areas are mowed, the second batter has one light left but still going. I throw both back on the charger and wait another hour and 20 minutes, then my husband cuts the rest of the yard. I like the fact the mower is very quiet. It’s light weight, easy to maneuver. It folds up in the garage. You can pop the batteries in it, hold down the button then the lever and mow! Simple. I don’t like the false advertisement about how long these batteries go for. I will be purchasing two more batteries so I don’t have to wait for the recharge. In the end, I love the decision we made. Hopes this helps in decision making. Update: My 4th time using it, I used two fully charged batteries, took my time in the front yard and two sides of the house, using the grass catcher, it LITERALLY used ONE battery. I’m not sure what changed but the other batter had 4 lights still🤷🏽‍♀️ hope this helps someone. Maybe it was me going slower than the first 3 times. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️
