## Description

The Pentair Pentek C2 is a dual-purpose carbon water filter cartridge engineered for standard 5-inch housings. This compact cartridge measures 2.5" x 4.88" and drops directly into any compatible housing without adapters or modifications.With a chlorine reduction capacity exceeding 2,500 gallons at 0.5 gpm, the C2 delivers reliable performance between replacements. The filter operates in water temperatures from 40 to 125 degrees F and produces only 2 psi of pressure drop at 2 gpm, so water flow remains strong at the tap. Review: Great filter! Better flow rate & longer lasting than the "stock" coconut shell carbon filters I had been using - UPDATE: I'd increase this to 10 stars if I could. As a test I used the last one SIX WHOLE MONTHS! Obviously against manufacturer recommendations but in that time we had only a few times where we had chlorine smell/taste "leak" thru and that was only when we used a tremendous amount of water outside (filling kiddie pools & watering). It only lasted a few hours until the filter seemed to "catch up" as if it recuperated from the excessive use. And we use a LOT of water and our water from Detroit has a LOT of chlorine. Can't say we noticed a decrease in flow rate even after 6 months unlike other filters we've tried. So I HIGHLY recommend these filters & now have them on auto order thru desertcart. :) Decided to try these filters in our whole house casing after previously using the coconut shell filters recommended by the local water conditioning store that installed it for the 1st year. Both filters seemed to have nearly the same flow rate at 1st (at least close enough to not have discernible difference) but unlike the "stock" filters which had a very noticeable decrease in flow rate after even just the 1st month left alone by 3rd month where you couldn't take a shower while someone flushed a toilet, these Pentek show very little decrease in flow vs when 1st installed. To me that is a GIANT plus & why I'll keep using these filters. (Besides these are 1/3 of the cost on desertcart vs buying from that store) So downsides? Sure.. The water inside the canister turns black but haven't seen any black water coming out of the faucets so it doesn't seem to hurt anything. But the old filters didn't do that. Another thing I noticed is if you run a LOT of water thru this filter over a short duration (such as filling a 250 gallon kiddie pool or watering the lawn a lot) there begins to be a slight chlorine smell from the taps. Our city water is VERY strong chlorine smell & taste without this filter so that doesn't surprise me really. This filter just can't keep up with massive amounts of water going thru it but I wasn't too bothered by it especially considering the filter was already months old & even then it still recovered after a day or two with little to no smell again. Although I did order a replacement from desertcart & plan to replace it soon anyway since we're approaching 6 months on this last filter. Money well spent!

**Q: Is this tha same as am. plumber w5cip478?**
A: Yes, this is the same filter, it just has a different brand name on the label.   Both brands (American Plumber and Pentek) are owned by Pentair.

**Q: What size are the inlet and outlet nipples?**
A: I really don't know.  They fit the filter canister that I bought from my plumber.

**Q: I have a model ccf-201 ametek filter system.  what filter will be great to replace the cartridges with?**
A: Probably best to go to the manufacturer's website and see what they recommend

**Q: What is the carbon made from? What is the cellulose powder made from?**
A: We use the C1-20 Carbon filter in our ware treatment system for our summer cabin. It is one of 4 filters, plus a UV-Light.  I assume the carbon filter is some sort of activated carbon for controlling the taste of the water. Lov2Read
