Almost everything on this thing is metal, and what isn't (like the cord hooks) can cheaply be replaced by a metal version. It does a good job of cleaning, and the beater bar is easy to de-hair. It is probably the strongest vacuum I've used; I've used commercial vacuums in my work. Hopefully it doesn't crap out. If you need something to clean carpet, this is it. Seems like it's built to last. CONS It is heavy compared to it's modern counterparts, taking it up and down stairs might be hard for some people. It won't fit under a table or couch, no attachments or hoses for corners, but the suction is great.
