A: Yes it heats.best unit I've ever owned.has a mode that can set say 76 if gets hotter than 76 cool in will come on.gets colder heat will come on.you need to do nothing but set remote and will stay that temp 5 star unit

A: need the remote to operate it.

**Q: Is this a universal fitting ac for any travel trailers ?**
A: Yes

**Q: What Kinda  size wire should I use?**
A: because this unit is in a mobile (vibratory) encironment, a srtanded wire no smaller than 10 awg.  If the length of the wire is really short, (6 or 8 ft) mabye 12.  I used a 10 awg three conductor SOOW cord.
