What am I doing wrong here???** A: These arecalled aircraft. That blue ring inside the nut are designed to keep the nuts from loosening during use.....vibration. Start the nuts by hand , then put a box wrench on the bolt head and one on the nut and tighten. You will meet some resistance but just keep turning the nut till it meets the part. **Q: I can't reach the bar on the lowest setting from laying on the bench. The bar is really high up and i use the safety spotters to hold the bar. Normal?** A: I think the directions are actually backwards for that step of the assembly. You should insert the hand screw AFTER the adjustable height rod. That way the screw goes through all the layers of metal, and doesn't prevent the rod from sliding down. After I did that I was able to reach the barbell easily, and the spotter bar was also in a good position. **Q: How difficult is this to assemble? Once you get used to racking and un-racking a loaded barbell, you will find these stands sturdy and well balanced. It does take a little getting used to, so I recommend practicing with an empty barbell on your back so your body gets a feel for where you need to step to quickly drop the weight without looking left to right to make sure you're lining up correctly (also recommend marking a spot on the floor so you know exactly where to step to). It's good for squats, shoulder press, incline press, and rack pulls. However, if you're fairly tall, this is pretty impossible for bench press. So, it works fine for most exercises, but before buying take into consideration the needs for your workout regimen.
