The only time it did, and also had issue sticking, was when using on glass out in the summer sun. And the residue was still very easy to clean off. It's also easy to tear. I just lined the perimeter with this stuff and it stuck on with no issues and came off with no residue on either surface. This stuff is essentially industry standard for a reason. It works!
