I have a two story 4 bedroom house. I have 7 detectors. 1 in each bedroom 1 in the hall outside the 2 sets of bedrooms and one downstairs. My downstairs detector is smoke/carbon monoxide. Don’t put a detector in or near the kitchen and try to keep them away from bathrooms...shower steam can set them off.
