Out of the two in the package, one never worked and with a little tweaking (moving the batteries around) the second did. Just having one work was worth the price because the fly stick is a great attraction repulsion demonstration. I took the one that never worked apart so I could show students the guts and how charging by friction was achieved. If you are a teacher buying these as a class set, I'd order a few extra expecting some to not work and some to stop working. It would be 5 starts if they always came working and stayed working.
