I am very happy with this purchase, and I would highly recommend this product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fine little guys and fills a great product space, just know what you're getting and how to use it. *by J***E on July 10, 2025* TL:DR - Good if you NEED compact and are fine with being SLOOOW. If size constraints don't matter, go for a NEMA 17 ballscrew model from the same guys for nearly the same price and waaaay more speed and better accuracy. I cannot speak to others reviews, but for the money this is an ok, specialized bit of kit. They should be fine for any little low load low speed project IF you understand the limitations and are willing to work on it a little. I ordered 3 separate 150mm axis and needed to tear down two and reassemble them to run smoother. They come with no connectors, so I had to order an additional kit to hook them up to a CNC control board running GRBL 1.1 and tested using Universal G-Code Sender. The seller says do 120rpm MAX, but the rule of thumb for lead screws is 200rpm. If you have these in a very low load application with low on time you could probably push this a little higher too. This exposes the main downside of these things: lead screws instead of ball screws. You get worse accuracy and less speed with more friction. However, for the size and price you need to pick your battles. For $15 more from the same seller you can get a Nema 17 stepper with a real ballscrew and run safely about 30X as fast, but it is also twice as tall and wide. Additionally, I can't find a complete kit like this with a ballscrew. So if you wanted the performance bump at the same size package you'd have to do a lot of legwork and spend more on just the ball screw than another axis to find a size like 6mm readily. Alternatively, you could find a higher pitch lead screw, but I'm not sure whats out there and I'm betting accuracy falls off as well. These things are tiny, ~ 1.25 in. X 1.25 in. in profile. The motors do not make much torque so they have a very high reduction lead of 1mm/motor revolution. This means that at the USUAL 16X microstep count you have 3200 counts/rev which will 1. Limit your torque and 2. be unrealistically tight control as 1mm/3200step = 300nm/step... yeah that ain't going to happen. So instead you can run at 8X or 4X micro stepping with a step/mm of 1600 or 800 respectively and still have 1.25um/step even at only 4X microstep. This will also boost your torque per step and let you push the speed up if you do not care about longevity of these things. (I ran them at 800~1200rpm just to see and they did move but one of my axis vibrated VERY angrily lol) One final note is that they did place mounting holes in the bottom aluminum extrusion.
