## Overview

Call to Adventure: The Stormlight Archive is a standalone 120-card strategy game for 1-4 players, inspired by Brandon Sanderson’s epic fantasy series. Players craft unique heroes by selecting origin, motivation, and destiny cards, then face challenges to build a personal narrative through tableau building. With an average 45-minute playtime, it blends competitive scoring with rich storytelling, offering high replayability through branching paths and iconic Stormlight Archive themes.

## Description

Call to Adventure The Stormlight Archive brings Brandon Sanderson's fantasy world to the Call to Adventure system, inviting 1 to 4 players to forge heroes instead of kingdoms. This standalone card game includes 120 cards and all components needed to play, so fans of the Stormlight Archive novels and narrative board games can open the box and start telling stories quickly. Each player begins by drafting three foundational cards that define a hero's origin, motivation and destiny, outlining where they came from, what drives them and the fate they might pursue. On each turn you face challenges that represent trials, encounters and pivotal scenes from the world of Roshar. You decide whether to attempt heroic or antiheroic paths, casting rune stones and using icons on your tableau to overcome difficulty thresholds. Successes add new traits, abilities and symbols to your hero, while failures create complications that deepen the story and introduce future risks. As the game progresses your tableau becomes a visual record of the character's life, from humble beginnings to climactic choices. The Stormlight edition expands the core system with adversaries, pathways and destinies drawn directly from Sanderson's setting.

Review: A really cool game - This game requires a fair amount of setup. There are two ways to play the game--cooperative or against each other. The cooperative game is pretty difficult, but enjoyably so. I've only ever played it with one other person, so playing time isn't as long as I'd like with just two people, but that's more of a personal preference. It's can have up to four players. It was pretty tricky to learn at first as the rule book is unclear/vague on a couple things, but it got easier as we kept playing and figured out our mistakes. Overall, it's a fun strategy game and I enjoy seeing the characters and scenarios of the books come to life.
Review: Family fun for teens up - Easy to play and you don't even need to understand the Cosmere to play. It was easy to teach as well.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How is this for people that have not read the books? I have but my roommates have not.**
A: I haven't read the books yet and love to play the game. We've used this as a start to player characters in Dungeons and Dragons. Build your PC off what you ended up with in the game.
We weren't even aware there were books until much later.

**Q: Can i combine this with the core game, or do i have to remove cards like the name of the wind expansion?**
A: We combine with the core game, just so we have more boards and can have more than 4 people playing. If you have people who don't know the books, then it might lead to confusion, but I think the base game and this game work well together.

**Q: Is this a game on its own, or is there a base game that this is an expansion to?**
A: you can play this on its own.
the mechanics are a little different than the base game.

**Q: Is this game based on the "Mistborn" series of books? Do you know which one? Thank you**
A: No. It’s based on the Stormlight Archive series. Although, there is also a board game based on the Mistborn series (super fun too)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A really cool game

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Family fun for teens up

Easy to play and you don't even need to understand the Cosmere to play. It was easy to teach as well.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Game for All
*by T***B on August 5, 2022*

I bought this game because I’m a huge Cosmere fan. I’m also an avid board gamer. I can say that this game scratched both itches super well! As a Cosmere fan, it was very cool to see all the artwork and story pieces from the Stormlight series, and it’s was amazing to feel like you are getting involved in the story. But even were I not a Stormlight fan, this game was just fun in its own right. It’s a good balance of different strategic options, giving you meaningful decisions to make throughout the game. At the same time, it’s not a difficult game to learn (i.e., it’s a game with depth of strategy, not depth from rule complexity). Like I said, it’s great for all!
